Welcome

Welcome to our Nursery School

East Prescot Nursery School is, quite simply, a place like no other. Founded in 1947, our fabulous nursery school has a longstanding tradition of providing the very best start in life for every child for almost 80 years. Our school has a special place at the heart of our local community: generations of families return to us because they too want the very best start for their own children. Our children and families are at the centre of everything we do.

For over 20 years, our school has been rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted in recognition of our tireless pursuit of excellence in early years education. Our children blossom and thrive here. Children make exceptional progress in their learning. Our children often tell me that East Prescot Road is the “best school in the world!” I strongly agree!

We are a Liverpool Maintained Nursery School (MNS) for three and four year olds. We provide a school curriculum, we have a Headteacher, qualified classroom teachers and a qualified Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). As a school, our highly trained and qualified staff have the experience, knowledge and expertise to deliver our ambitious curriculum. We know from research that high-quality teaching is what makes the greatest difference to children’s educational outcomes; that is why maintained nursery schools are so important.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection in November 2019 judged our provision to be Outstanding across all areas, with no areas for improvement. The inspection report identified the following:

"This is a fabulous nursery school. Children are extremely happy. They develop high levels of independence and many skills that they need for their lives now and in the future. The school fulfils its values and its aim of giving children the 'Roots to grow and the wings to fly'."

Our aims for the children who attend East Prescot Road Nursery School is to ensure they become confident, self-motivated learners who develop the skills and attitudes to achieve the best possible outcomes in their learning and development. We do this by providing irresistible learning opportunities for our children, through magical first-hand experiences and high quality interactions.

"Children behave very well. They feel very safe. They tell adults if they feel something is wrong." (Ofsted, 2019)

Underpinning our early years provision is the nurturing of children’s personal, social and emotional development. We believe that children learn best when they are happy and secure and have formed a trusting relationship with their adults in school.

"Reading is at the heart of the curriculum and is a high priority for the school. The aim behind the whole curriculum is to give children the language and vocabulary that they need for the future." (Ofsted, 2019)

Our inclusive curriculum is carefully planned in a progressive and sequential manner to ensure that, over time, every single child develops the skills, knowledge, attitudes and learning behaviours to prepare them well for the next stage of their education. We believe that our role here is to give children the roots to grow, by building firm foundation for lifelong learning.

We actively promote the fundamental values of British life; the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect of those with different faiths or beliefs. For our nursery children this begins with; learning to play with others, take turns and share, learning right from wrong, understanding that they have a voice that is listened to and can make choices that are respected; the promotion of positive views within the nursery and wider community and the challenging of stereotypes through positive role models and discussion.

Children and families are central to our mission, vision and values. We are committed to working in partnership to deliver high quality provision that meets the needs of every child. Our Senior Leadership Team and amazing staff team promote opportunities for learning for children and families through their practice and behaviour which are underpinned by respectful, nurturing relationships; good communication ensuring consistency; high quality practice and provision and a culture of self?improvement based on evaluation, reflection and action.

We are united in our pursuit of excellence and enjoyment in early years education: every experience, every child, every moment.
